Fifth Third 1.67% Cas/Back Card Review
The Fifth Third 1.67% Cas/Back Card is a no annual fee credit card that earns unlimited rewards on every purchase.
Earn 1.67% Back on Every Purchases
The Fifth Third 1.67% Cash/Back Card is a uniquely named credit card with a straightforward gimmick –earning an enhanced amount of cash back rewards on all eligible purchases. While “cash back” isn’t a unique selling point, the earning rate of the card – 1.67% cash back on every $1 spent on purchases – certainly is out-of-the-ordinary. Why 1.67% back? It’s because that is a “Fifth Third Better®” – i.e., it is one-third times five.
The rewards aren’t if the cash back rewards rate and reasoning are strange. The 1.67% back is more than the 1.5% back that comes with the Chase Freedom Unlimited or the Upgrade Cash Rewards Visa®, making it a reliable, solid option if you currently bank with Fifth Third and are in the market for a new rewards credit card.
Here’s a closer look at how the Fifth Third Cash/Back Card compares with competitors:

How to Redeem Cash Back
A great feature of Fifth Third credit cards is that rewards never expire. Even better, there are no caps to the amount of rewards you can earn. With the Fifth Third 1.67% Cash/Back credit card, there are a few ways to redeem: You can redeem to your Fifth Third Checking or Savings account, as a statement credit issued to your credit card account, or have a physical check sent to your home.
No Introductory APR
If the unorthodox earning rate with the Cash/Back Card from Fifth Third is a quirky selling point, the lack of any kind of promotional APR is a letdown. The card does not offer a 0% intro APR period on either purchases or balance transfers. Additionally, the average APR for purchases, while varying for creditworthiness, still is above the national average.
Other Card Features
Beyond the unlimited cash back and no annual fee, what else does the Fifth Third Cash/Back offer? The card provides fast, safe, touch-free payments thanks to EMV chip and contactless payment technology. This feature provides an additional layer of security when shopping in-store or online. Simply tap your credit card wherever you see the Contactless Pay logo worldwide.
Cardholders also enjoy no international transaction fees when using their card abroad. While not a “reward” in itself, a credit card with no foreign transaction fees can save you some serious money on a long trip – not bad! And that international use is even easier with mobile wallet compatibility to Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay.
Finally, cardholders enjoy Mastercard benefits and protections. Mastercard provides an enhanced level of benefits, including:
Zero Liability Protection | Airport Concierge | Cell Phone Protection |
Mastercard Global Services | Priceless Experiences | Lyft Credits |
ID Theft Protection | Priceless Golf | Mastercard Travel Services |
Mastercard Hotel Stay Guarantee | ShopRunner Membership |

Should You Apply for the Fifth Third 1.67% Cas/Back Card?
Should you consider the Fifth Third 1.67% Cas/Back Card? That depends entirely upon your current relationship with Fifth Third. If you currently bank with the financial institution, or live in an eligible US state, the chances are the card is a good fit for you. The enhanced cash back is nice, but not excessive, so you don’t have to worry about an annual fee.
If you live outside Fifth Third’s service area, there are better options, however, so don’t fret. The TD Bank Double Up, Citi Double Cash, and other cards from larger issues offer more rewards with the same $0 annual fee.
