Wells Fargo Credit Cards
Wells Fargo is the fourth-largest bank in the world by market capitalization and the fourth-largest bank in the United States by assets. The bank, which dates to 1852, when the two founders of American Express founded it.
The bank is also a significant credit card issuer, with over 23 million accounts to date. Wells Fargo credit cards offer quality rewards and robust protections – and suit a variety of credit scores. These options include secured credit cards, business cards, travel rewards cards, and more.
Benefits of Wells Fargo Cards
Wells Fargo may be one the most significant – and oldest – banks in the country, but that doesn’t mean they are backward thinking. Wells Fargo Cards offer some unique features and benefits that continue to entice new applicants. These benefits include:
Budget watch | Budget Watch allows cardholders to set up a personal budget and compare their spending across all their Wells Fargo banking accounts. |
My spending report | This feature works in conjunction with Budget Watch. This feature allows cardholders to monitor their spending, deposits, income, payments, and withdrawals. |
Advance access | A feature unique to the Wells Fargo Propel American Express® Card, Advance Access provides exclusive access to tickets for concerts, sporting events, theatres, and other events. |
Other features with credit cards from Wells Fargo include:
Zero Fraud Liability | Cardholder Inquiry Services | Emergency Card Replacement | Luxury Hotel Collection | Extended Warranty Coverage |
Roadside Dispatch | Lost/Stolen Card Reporting | ID Navigator from Norton | Travel & Emergency Assistance |
What to Look for In a Wells Fargo Credit Card
Before applying for a Wells Fargo card, consider the following:
- Rewards: What do you want in a credit card? Do you plan to use your card for cash back rewards, or do you think you’ll find more value through redeeming for travel? Wells Fargo offers different cards for different reward preferences.
- Annual Fee: Carefully weigh up the yearly fee versus how much you plan to make use of the perks the card provides. This consideration only really applies to Wells Fargo business credit cards, like the Wells Fargo Business Elite Card®.
- No Foreign Transaction Fees: Only a few Wells Fargo credit cards come with no foreign transaction fees. Most Wells Fargo cards charge a foreign transaction fee of 3% of the transaction charge. If you plan on using the card for purchases outside the US (including online), weigh this charge carefully.
- Co-Branded: Wells Fargo also issues a few co-branded credit cards, including two cards in collaboration with retail giant Dillard’s.
Wells Fargo Go Far Rewards Program Guide
Wells Fargo Go Far Rewards is the loyalty program for Wells Fargo credit cards. One of the unique features of the Go Far program is that multiple accounts can pool points together. This feature allows entire families to share points towards bigger award redemptions, including luxury vacations.
Value of Wells Fargo Rewards Points
The value of Wells Fargo Go Far points varies depending on the award option selected. Most awards offer a point value of one cent per point. Using rewards for travel bookings offers a higher evaluation. This is especially true with the Wells Fargo Propel American Express® Card. Booking travel provides a valuation of 1.5 cents per Go Far point.
How to Redeem Rewards Points
Like other rewards programs, Go Far Rewards apply to a variety of redemption awards. These options include:
- Statement Credits: Points are applicable to statement credits. These credits can help a cardholder pay down the Wells Fargo credit card account.
- Cash Back: Cash back is another option, with withdrawals from Wells Fargo Bank ATMs. Cash awards come in $20 increments and are an award option unique to the bank.
- Gift Cards: Go Far points apply towards gift cards from leading brands and retailers.
- Wells Fargo Products: Rewards apply to direct deposits to Wells Fargo banking accounts. Cardholders can also use Go Far rewards to make payments on Wells Fargo mortgage and loan products.
- Charity: Donate points to a selection of charities.
- Merchandise: Points apply to select merchandise purchases, including Apple purchases.
- Travel: Book flights, hotels, and rental cars through Wells Fargo’s online travel portal.
Unlike other loyalty programs, such as Chase Ultimate Rewards, American Express Member Rewards, or Citi ThankYou, Wells Fargo Go Far points do not transfer to any other loyalty program. This means cardholders can only book their travel through the Wells Fargo portal.
Do Wells Fargo Reward Points Expire?
Go Far Rewards points expire at the end of the 60th month after they are earned. This means Wells Fargo Go Far Rewards expire after five years.
